We here at BrainShartStudios are huge fans of Monster Hunter. That’s mostly John and I, but we have been successful, at long last, at converting Panda as well, after years of trying.
The weird thing about Monster Hunter, that seems to be oddly exclusive to it in the greater gaming landscape, is that Monster Hunter really doesn’t have any real competition in its genre. Like how Call of Duty has Battlefield or Medal of Honor, or how PUBG has Fortnight, or how Overwatch has Battleborn and Law Breakers… Ok, ok, that last one was a joke, I couldn’t help myself.
My point is, name any big game these days and, odds are, you will find “copycats” of varying quality and success. Monster Hunter never really had that. Sure, there were games Like Toukiden or God Eater and Soul Sacrifice (to an extent) but those never really made a mark of their own. They existed in the same genre, but each was its own thing for the most part, to call them competition just didn’t seem right. Monster Hunter stands alone.
Until now, that is. That’s why I’m so excited for the upcoming (It’s currently out by the time I post this, still downloading… Can’t WAIT!) Indy Free to Play title, Dauntless. I’ve been interested in it ever since it was revealed, but I never was able to try out the Beta or anything because I simply don’t have a very good computer for gaming. But now it’s FINALLY on PS4 and Xbox One, so I’m a very happy camper! I keep hearing good things about this developer too, when it comes to treating the player base and non-predatory micro-transaction practices (Think Warframe devs, if that helps) so that makes me even more excited to dive into what I can only describe as the only real “Monster Hunter- like” on the market today!
It’s FREE TO PLAY MONSTER HUNTER! How can you really go wrong? Even if it sucks, you literally lose NOTHING by playing/trying it. Already, I’m sold!
If you would like to know more, or you wanna see why I’m so excited in the first place (I’m in LOVE with that art style!), Monster Hunter alum and one of my favorite content creators for the series in general, Arekkz Gaming, has you covered. Here is his intro on what the game actually is.
If you liked what you just saw as much as I did, you might wanna head on over to YouTube and give Arekkz Gaming a quick follow and check out the rest of his content. You’ll be glad you did.
While you’re there, if you would like to see what WE have to offer, you should check out our YouTube Channel as well! BrainShartStudios: your one stop shop for top quality internet trash! Enjoy?
Also, we like to make fools of ourselves on Twitch from time to time, too. Head over there now and give us a follow! You can make fun of our inability to play video games LIVE! So have at it! We can take it, I swear!
You can also bother us over on Facebook here if you want. Do kids today even still use Facebook? Whatever, couldn’t hurt, I guess.
